All teams that participated in at least one Formula 1 race

Those teams that participated in Formula 1 races and that participated only in Indianapolis 500 races are marked in red.
Indy 500 is considered to be one of the most prestigious motor races and is part of the Triple Crown of Motorsport (Only Graham Hill managed it). It was first raced in 1911, and it was part of the Formula One World Championship from 1950 to 1960 (11 races).

Since the 1981 season the FIA have required that Formula One entrants own the intellectual rights to the chassis that they enter. Before this time, constructors were free to sell their chassis to as many other teams as they liked. Brabham and Lotus chassis were used extensively by other teams during the 1960s and 1970s and several quite competitive teams never built their own chassis.  Rob Walker Racing Team was the most successful example, being responsible for the first victories in Formula One for both Cooper and Lotus. hence the difference between the terms "entrant" and "constructor".
